Update 2 and a half

Hi Everyone again,

David here and this is a proper update! Jenni rang this afternoon (seeing who was going to Melbourne if anyone and wanting some healthy sandwiches and lollipops brought in to her! lol). She sounded quite bright and fairly positive, quite a different story I had received the night before from Sandra (her Mum). Jenni told me she had understood what the surgeon had said right from the start despite what Sandra had told me! lol. Anyway, she was very grateful for all your thoughts and prayers and asked me to pass on her thanks and gratitude and tell you that you are all very special people. (She actually said lots more along those lines but you get the drift). She is hoping to be home in about a week but will still be quite sore although not as sore as she would have been had they done the original operation. She is still holding out hope, the surgeon mentioned the possibility of more chemo and radiotherapy to give her more time and Mr Brian MacDonald(I think that's the pain specialist's name) still has a couple of ideas on the pain. There has been mention of going into hospice sometime soon for a nerve block but Jenni was unsure when that would be.

Anyway, that's about it at the moment. She is in better spirits and just setting herself little goals to get better and get home to Jack and Jamie. I don't think I have mentioned Jamie. He is Jenni's son but not mine and he has been fantastic with Jack. He and his girlfriend are here Saturday nights and are great with Jack. Jamie feels frustrated that he can't do more but he tries his best to help. Jack had a great time at his friends place this afternoon and went to the beach. So I headed off for a walk on the beach by myself and get some "head space" time too. All ready to face another week.

Take care everyone and once again, thank you for your thoughts, messages and prayers.

David.

  3. I went to the beach today too! Only my beach is at the top end of Oz. It is a fabulous way to just sort a few cobwebs and clear the fuzzy outta of your head. You are doing a fabulous job David and will continue to do so I am sure of that. Know that! It is great to hear Jen in such great spirits Thankyou again for relaying her ongoing story for us.

  4. I believe that if one door shuts - another one opens and with an attitude as positive as Jen's - anything is possible. Sounds like hospital food is as appertising as usual..lol.
Glad you got some time out today too David. Jamie is a big help with Jack.
    Take care

And Jenni girl... keep asking for what you need. Even though the path has headed a different direction, it sounds like you've got someone willing to work hard for your care.

  8. That's great news, David!

Thanks for the relay and thank Jamie for his help too! (Anytime someone is willing to help with our children is a big help to us, eh?)

And I'm envious--walks at the beach are therapeutic. No such thing here around Dallas! ha.

  12. Thanks again, David, for all your care and support for "our" dear Jen. Her positive spirit is shining through already! I'm happy to hear that you are taking time out to care for yourself as well. You are all such an amazing example of how to deal with one of the most difficult situations life can throw at us, and a testament to what we can accomplish when we set aside our differences for a common goal.

Blessings to you, Jen, Jack and Jamie.

  21. Hey sweet Jenni B.

I've been out of communication, but I want to spend some time here to tell you that I love you and that I'm proud of you. You are unlike anyone I've ever met; you have an unusually sweet spirit and a genuinely kind heart.

I was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge today, with a heavy heart and full of sadness. As I crossed the bridge, I looked up into the sky and four Blue Angels jets (Navy flight squadron) were flying inches away from each other doing breathtaking loops in the air and coming within inches of San Francisco's skyscrapers. And while I was looking, this song came on the radio:

I have sailed a boat or two
    Out on the wild blue
Yonder to dreams that rarely come true
As far as i can see
    From this island of green
I can put my trust in just one thing

And only love sails straight from the harbor
And only love will lead us to the other shore
Out of all the flags i've flown
One flies high and stands alone
    Only love

    Peaceful waters, raging sea
It’s all the same to me
I can close my eyes and still be free
When the waves come crashing down
    And the thunder rolls around
I can feel my feet on solid ground

And only love sails straight from the harbor
And only love will lead us to the other shore
Out of all the flags i've flown
One flies high and stands alone
    Only love

This song reminds me of you and your approach to life, Jenni, and fills me with admiration and love.

Peace and grace to you, sweetheart.
